Hook (James) & Company is established.

The retail lobster seller is located 15 Northern Avenue. An outgrowth of Hook’s wholesale company that began in 1925, it expands over the years and is currently operated by Hook’s grandchildren, Eddie, Al, Jimmy and Nancy. The complex is destroyed by a fire on May 30, 2008. The family reopens a small shop in a modular building on the site and is proposing to develop a restaurant and high-rise hotel on the property.
